1. New Hampshire is a libertarian state.
The fact that New Hampshire is arguably the most important state to the primary election helps Paul more than any other candidate. I predict that voters from the live-free-or-die state will appreciate his libertarian, small-government positions.
2. In many states (including NH), Independents can vote in the Republican primary.
This is important for Paul since a lot of his positions would appeal to non-republican voters, e.g. the war, drug policy.
3. Ron Paul is the only anti-war Republican candidate.
In a 10 man race, a candidate can win with a minority of the vote. As Ron Paul has stated himself, being that all the other republican candidates support the war, the pro-war vote is significantly diluted, so the anti-war republican-primary voter (though a minority) only has one option: Ron Paul.
4. Electability.
The American people are overwhelming anti-war. Considering how pro-war the rest of the republican candidates are, it seems doubtful that the republicans will keep the White House in 2008, unless Ron Paul is their nominee. This adds to Ron Paul's attractiveness to even pro-war voters, who would rather have an anti-war president who is at least a republican than an anti-war Democratic president.
5. Fundraising
Enthusiasm for Ron Paul's candidacy has definitely been on the rise. He recently raised $1,000,000 in less than 6 days.
I'm still not convinced that he has a great chance of winning the primary, but I don't think its a complete long-shot. I think his biggest obstacle is pessimism. Many people agree with his views, but write him off because they don't think he stands a chance.
In order to vote for Ron Paul in the primary, you might have to change your party affiliation. Look into your state's laws regarding this issue.

It's unfortunate that the majority of the public immediately puts Ron Paul down whenever his name is mentioned. As Mike stated, their rational is that "he doesn't stand a chance".
People with this viewpoint need to wake up. Ron Paul does in fact, stand a chance. He is the most honest, sensible and intelligent candidate. Ron Paul is rapidly gaining support and justly so.
People who have a negative viewpoint towards Ron Paul, seem to have been greatly misinformed by the media. Unfortunately, the media does not portray him accurately. Anytime he is on a debate his time to speak is cut short, interviewers laugh at him and more or less tell him to give up.
Please do not be swayed by the media. Please look into Ron Paul and form your own opinion.
"It's unfortunate that the majority of the public immediately puts Ron Paul down whenever his name is mentioned."
This is true only if by "majority of the public" you mean "the MSM" or "those that suck up the MSM's every word."
Over 90% of the public is completely unaware of Ron Paul's candidacy. That's lifted straight from a Forbes poll.
Those are the people we need to reach and we need to do it by canvassing every precinct in the country. This is how elections are won and not even Romney can afford to get that kind of coverage.
We have 92 days. Get voter registration lists. Get slim jims. Get out there. Drive down the streets hanging slim jims from the newspaper boxes (talk to the campaign's legal counsel before touching mailboxes).
We can do this. Now get offline! :-) (there are no undecideds here)
i myself am deeply upset that ron paul is running, he should be ashamed to call himself an american since he's against supporting israel militarily. jews make up the best citizens in the world and have many religious rights to israel, not to mention the united states. american troops should be proud to die for such a noble cause. ron paul deserves to get even more of this "blowback" he's so afraid of, from true israeli loyalists. i consider ron paul to be a living declaration of war against israel, love, peace, and everything virtuous under the sun.
If you want, you can move to Israel (if you don't live there already) and join the Israeli army (if you haven't already.) But do not force me and others to support Israel via taxation. It is not right for the U.S. government to take my money and give it to Israel against my will, especially when doing so is not in the interests of the U.S.. You are perfectly free to support Israel how you wish, just don't impose that on others.
i live in america, therefore i know what antisemitism is, first hand, and to me you sound like a typical Hitler worshiping antisemite. How many Jews will you burn to be satisfied? Do you have any sense of decency? Why uphold this tabernacle of racism?! If giving money to Israel is against your will then your will simply must be broken. There's nothing brave about you standing up for yourself against the world, and you are essentially fighting against the world here. sorry, you're not William Wallace. I'm not imposing anything. You have the freedom choose for yourself, the choice is yours... do you want to support Israel? or do you want to be ridiculed as an antisemite for the rest of your life and never experience another ounce of joy?
Hah!
"the choice is yours... do you want to support Israel? or do you want to be ridiculed as an antisemite for the rest of your life and never experience another ounce of joy"
Your logic is impeccable. Clearly if I don't support something I'm opposed to it. If I don't like welfare, I hate poor people... if I don't like the war, I support terrorists...
I don't want the American Government giving money to ANY nation. If you want to give money to some foreign nation for whatever reason strikes you... please do... but don't put a gun to my head and make me do it *cough*taxes*cough*
This link is for the anonymous poster that said "i myself am deeply upset that ron paul is running,...". Though this poster will probably never see this link, it may help to shed some light on the discussion.
