The Bob Barr Effect

The media seem to take for granted that people who plan on voting for Bob Barr, the former republican congressman turned Libertarian candidate for president, would otherwise vote for McCain. I don't think this is necessarily correct because while Barr has many conservative positions (and overall he's probably more to the right than to the left), the main issue of his campaign, the issue he spends most of his time talking about, is defending civil liberties, which appeals much more to liberals than conservatives. And given Obama's recent cave-in on warrantless wiretapping and telecom immunity, Barr is looking even more attractive to liberals these days.
