On Taxes, Does It Matter Who Wins?
Given that the Democrats will almost certainly continue to control congress after the 2008 elections and that the bush tax cuts are slated to expire in 2010, does it really matter who is elected? Only congress can lower taxes, not the president. The only thing President McCain could hope for would be a shift in power in the 2010 midterm elections. Even then there's no guarantee that he'd get his tax plan through. I'm sure there would be at least a few republicans against it (like he was against the 2003 bush tax cuts) and the Democrats, even if they lost the majority in the senate, would still be likely to have enough seats to filibuster it.
